Mount Fuji in Japan

Fujiyama or Mount Fuji is Japan’s highest mount and the focus of the sprawl Fuji-Hakone-Izu or Fuji Q National Park. Seeable from Tokyo on a clean day, the mount is placed to the west of Tokyo on the main island Honshu. Best Time to Visit Mount Fuji is in Summer because the temperature is warmer, between July and August. Beside that time, it will be really dangerous. The weather other than summer is unpredictable and can harm the climber.

A absolutely symmetric eruptive cone, the mountain is a near-mythical national symbol immortalised in countless works of artistic creation, including Hokusai’s 36 Views of Mt. Fuji.

The Nipponese always refer to Mt. Fuji as Fuji-san, but the -san here merely means “mountain”, and has nothing to act with the honorific san for people’s names. “Fujiyama” is a misinterpreting of the name, and is never applied by the Japanese themselves — except in the phrase Fujiyama geisha girl, a lament at how Japan is misapprehended in the West.
